Anglo-Eastern, a leading global provider of ship management services, has unveiled their new Singapore office at Labrador Tower, bringing their local teams together in a unified workspace. The modern, nautical-inspired workspace was designed to enhance teamwork and spark innovation, serving as a platform for operational excellence across their global network.
Working closely in collaboration with lead designer Bean Buro and build partner LFA, Conexus Studio ensured that the design vision translated seamlessly from concept to reality through a meticulous build process. Custom features were expertly crafted with deep expertise and great attention to detail, culminating in a distinctive office for the Anglo-Eastern family to call home.
Journey to New Horizons
Guests are welcomed onboard the Anglo-Eastern experience with a striking ship-hull inspired reception counter in regal blue, the firm’s brand colour. Featuring a gradient glass logo wall with soft blue tones mirroring the boundless sea, the reception opens directly into the work café, creating a spacious and inviting environment filled with natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping ocean views, providing a serene backdrop for both staff and visitors to connect and recharge.
Custom-made furniture and carpentry were key to achieving this look. For instance, the hull-inspired reception counter and pantry counters required multiple prototyping and advanced techniques to ensure seamless curves and finishes. These thoughtful touches elevate the office while staying true to Anglo-Eastern's heritage.
Maritime Heritage Meets Bold Elegance
The nautical-inspired design, with its stunning sculptural qualities of shipping elements, creates a striking visual narrative. Bespoke joinery meticulously crafted in-house by Conexus Studio adds a touch of personalised artistry, while intricate ceiling features, such as metallic water ripples, fluted rims and dome-shaped skylights enhance the space with dynamic details. These elements are complemented with ship models and ocean photography, celebrating Anglo-Eastern’s long-standing history as pioneers in global ship management.
To ensure quality and efficiency, Conexus Studio brought a strategic approach to project management with detailed guidance on workflows and design coordination, working closely with the designers at Bean Buro to establish a cohesive visual identity that seamlessly ties Anglo-Eastern's Singapore office with the aesthetics of their Hong Kong headquarters.
Dynamic Spaces for Lively Collaboration
The nautical theme creates a harmonious backdrop, with a design rooted in functionality and employee comfort. Bathed in natural light and featuring ergonomic layouts, the space is purposefully designed to boost both productivity and comfort.
A standout feature is the Red Cargo collaboration space, inspired by shipping containers. With its seamless mix of carpentry, metalwork, glasswork, and landscaping, this dynamic area fosters creativity and teamwork, offering a creative space for the Anglo-Eastern team to gather and innovate.
To minimise noise distractions between the different work neighbourhoods, the open concept office is layered with geometric partitions to add a playful touch, while providing noise insulation.
“Ship management is a craft that requires precision, teamwork, and unwavering commitment. It is, at its core, both an art and a science - a delicate balance of strategy, execution, and most importantly, foresight. This office embodies that craft, our values, and the Anglo-Eastern brand. We are thankful to Conexus Studio and our other partners for being an integral part of bringing this new workplace to life.”
Bjorn Hojgaard, CEO, Anglo-Eastern
