NS BlueScope, a prominent leader in the global steel industry, has unveiled a new Singapore regional head office designed to modernize and elevate workplace dynamics. Crafted by Conexus Studio, with expertise from workplace and project management specialists at Knight Frank Singapore, this project marks a notable shift from its previous conventional, segmented office layout to a contemporary open-concept design. By integrating employee feedback into the planning process, the new space meets the diverse needs of its staff, promoting an atmosphere of comfort and engagement.
A Reflection of NS BlueScope’s Brand Identity
The Front of House showcases a sleek, long rectangular design featuring a pantry and reception area, which can serve as one large event venue or be subdivided into smaller touchdown spaces. Central to this design are walls constructed from BlueScope’s Lysaght catalogue of steel products, echoing modern industrial aesthetics and inviting a tactile exploration of materials, at the same time showcasing the product’s versatility and the company’s commitment to creative expressions. These expertly crafted roll-formed profiles, paired with warm timber laminates, create a striking visual experience that is at once modern and approachable. A bespoke mural further enriches this space, celebrating NS BlueScopes values and showcasing diverse iconic projects around the region, solidifying the brand’s influence in the industry.
An Employee-Centric Office
At the core of the office is a focus on employee needs and preferences, where valuable input from NS BlueScope’s employees shaped a layout that not only accommodates, but elevates, modern workplace expectations.
The office design intentionally fosters an environment that encourages open communication. The versatile Front of House is a key driver of spontaneous conversation and collaboration, a central space where people gather before and after meetings at the casual discussion room or at the boardroom, which is designed specifically to facilitate formal group conversations rather than presentation-style discussions facing the TV screen. Notably, executive offices are designed to double as meeting spaces when required, and are strategically located along the core of the office to maximise natural light and window views, enhancing the office’s openness and inclusivity.
These thoughtful design elements not only reflect NS BlueScope’s commitment to innovation but also empower employees to thrive in a collaborative and inviting work environment.
