BT Interview: 2023 Design Trends
In an interview with The Business Times’ Lifestyle section last Friday, Managing Director Brendan Khor shared insights on office design trends to anticipate for the upcoming year.
Brendan talked about how the hybrid office took shape in 2022, as the return to the workplace coupled with the rise of remote working meant that more offices were redesigning their spaces to include amenities suitable for both employees working from the home or office. “As more businesses commit to remote work, we will also see offices become more fluid with newfound areas for collaboration, learning and activities that promote engagement as well as productivity,” the article quoted him saying.
Wellbeing, sustainability and technology were other trends Brendan discussed in the interview, as companies looked to provide employees with a visionary environment that empowered them and drove business goals.
He shared his observation on how companies have reduced their office footprint by as much as 50% without sacrificing amenities for staff. “In 2023, I expect to see an acceleration of these trends, with an increasing focus on corporate culture as companies recognise that it’s not just about giving employees a place to work,” said Brendan in the article.
